Sure, I sometimes work on the same jobs as my brother Ryan,
especially if it’s mudding (drywall finishing) we’re doing.
That’s the job we really focus on.
Like my brother I started right out of high school; that was back
in 1997. All my training has been on the job, with all the good
North Star people. If the company needs me as a foreman someday,
I may assume that job, too, just like my brother.
In addition to mudding, I like framing because the work goes up
fast. That’s what the customer sees and what they get excited
about. Also, with a whole crew working, more than just two guys,
we have fun putting up walls and trusses.
Among my most impressive jobs is the one right here in our new
North Star headquarters on Empire Drive. Ryan and I did the mud
work here, and some professional painters came in and said it was
the best finish mud work they’d ever seen! Yes, some drywall
workers are sloppy; but we take a bit more time and use a better
mud for our base coats, not the topping coat which others use because
it’s quicker and easier to work with.
Like Ryan, I like a lot of sports: football, hockey, basketball,
handball, you name it. Just about anything, really, except that
sensitive woman stuff!
As for friends, I can’t think of any better guys to hang out
with than the guys I work with every day.
